🔍 Looking Beyond the Glass – Vol. 1

A Heart for Dogs, Veterans & Community: Nikki Maloid on iHeartRadio

At Plymouth Glass & Mirror, we’re more than just glass. Through community outreach like our dog rescue and veteran support efforts, we’re reflecting kindness, framing purpose, and opening windows to real change in Connecticut.

In our first installment of Looking Beyond the Glass, we’re shining a light on our President, Nikki Maloid, and her recent iHeartRadio interview with Alison Demers on Community Access. The conversation gave an honest, emotional look at the inspiration behind our upcoming Dog Star Rescue Adoption Event and why giving back — especially to our veterans — is personal to her.

💙 “It’s something that can really change someone’s life.”

During the interview, Nikki shared how Plymouth Glass’s commitment to service dogs and veteran support started — and how it’s grown.

“Last year, we sponsored one service dog for a veteran. This year, we’re proud to sponsor a full year of veterinary care for 10 veteran service dogs — a cause that touches so many lives beyond just the person receiving the help.”

Service dogs help with mobility, emotional regulation, PTSD support, and simple companionship. As Nikki explained, the need is often invisible, which is why awareness matters just as much as action.

“We forget that whole mental health piece. It’s not always just about the medical. There’s so much more behind the scenes.”

🐾 How Plymouth Glass Turns Loss Into Purpose Through Dog Rescue and Veteran Support

What made this interview especially moving was how candid Nikki was about the recent loss of her family dog of nearly 13 years — and how this event is helping her heal.

“It was one of the hardest things I’ve gone through… so when this event came about, I wondered if I’d be too emotional. But instead, it’s brought me comfort — knowing that others will find that same companionship and unconditional love.”

That kind of vulnerability is what drives the heart of this event — and it’s why our team is all in. From office staff to techs in the field, everyone’s excited to be part of something bigger than just our daily work.

“Our employees are calling their spouses saying, ‘Hey, just a heads up… we might be bringing home a dog this weekend!’”
